Had a few hours and the weather seemed to be cooperating so I got the Yak in the water down at RB. Only had enough time to troll the usual spots a few times and hooked up w/ two shakers to 25" (C&R'd). Beautiful sunset.

Right on Z,  25 inches is a keeper, but good on you for CNR.

Yeah, normally I'd keep 'em but I have a few fillets in my freezer still. And I am trolling for some lunker rezzies. :headbang: BTW what are some records for rezzie's?

So Zee,

I don't guess you have any pictures of those bad boys, eh?  What were you trolling for lure/bait?  How do you get it down?

Fishin-T
If at first you don't succeed....  maybe skydiving is just not for you.

Sorry, no pics. Just got 'em back in the water since they were gonna be C&R'd.

Hoochies and a Deep Six.

BTW, I am setting up the X w/ a downrigger. I've found that if you want big fish you have to get deep... especially this time of year.

Zee,

"this time of year"... that's just the thing!  You are definitely "The Man", Zee!  I need to toughen up some day and fish in the winter too, just like my hero Zee.  Seriously, way to go.

I plan on fishing for rezzies following the areas that are still open throughout the winter. Area 10, my hood, will shut down Jan 31st but I'll follow that by going North to area 9 which will open Jan 16th. 8-1 and 8-2 will also be open and am looking forward to check some of those parts.

It is cold out there but as long as you're trolling it keeps you plenty warm... that and the drysuit. ;D T & Charlie.. anytime! ;)

Man, Bryce!  I wish I was closer.  You know I'd be on it.  Thanks for the report.

So what's a rezzie?   :)

Hey Ab, good to see you on NWKA... WHAT UP!! :hello:

Yeah Ab, you're a salmon madman no doubt. I KNOW you'd be on it. ;) A rezzie is my term of endearment for resident salmon. Here in Wa we actually have Coho and Chinook salmon that won't venture very far outside of Puget Sound so we can catch year-round. I believe the way it started is the hatcheries let the smolt out late and so the fish have it in their heads that it's too late for the journey so stay in home waters all their life. They don't get as big as their traveling bretherin but still can reach up to 15+ lbs.

PS. Whenever you feel the itch for that off-season salmon, you've got plenty of gear for use up here, just come on up.

Right on, Z.  Thank ya kindly! ;D  and thanks for the explanation - I wish we had some rezzies down here!  Potential fresh salmon from the salt any time of year - that sounds like heaven.   ^-^
