Another gotta ask question.....

Stuffing the hull full of noodles would mean less volume for water that enters and give you more stability if the hull is flooded wouldn't it?

Yes, your stability really goes down the tubes when you start taking on lots of water.

Now I just need to find a bargain on Craiglist for some outdated Mustang type auto inflating PFD's.  Just stuff several of them in there and hope they inflate quick if I start taking on water.

So, I've read a few threads recently regarding adding flotation to yaks. I havent added any yet but am curious how many here add extra floatation inside their boats? Am I crazy for opting not to?

I wouldn't say, "crazy" but here's another thought. I keep a couple inside mine, not only in the event I ever need the additional floatation, but also have them cut to size, and they serve a sort of bulk head going from side to side. That keeps small things from sliding too far in either direction.

Glad you mentioned that. My gear inside my rod pod tends to slide around quite abit during surf launches.  Pool noodles stuffed into the outside void of the scupper posts keeps it contained pretty well within accessible reach.

Also, a short chunk of noodle, gooped widthwise just below the hatch of the rod pod, with a few slits cut into it, can make a fairly decent inside-the-hull rod rack

Pool noodles also work great for protecting your rods inside the hull during surf launches/landings, or transporting them inside your hull to and fro the launch. I have a couple split long ways for this reason.

I like the bulkhead idea! Help keep small stuff from sliding fore and aft in the hull.
