I'm sure some of you have seen this yak before.

Yup. It's JGrady's Tarpon 120 that was a tad bit too small for him. My wife Britt and I took a trip to the Kayak Shed this morning to check it out. Derek and the crew at Kayak Shed hooked JGrady up with a slightly bigger boat which suits him a little better. Derek took us out to have Britt demo the Tarpon 120 which gave me an excuse to finally try out the Coosa.
Verdict on the Tarpon? Clearly she loved it because it's sitting in my garage. She looked like a natural in it. Since she was looking more for a paddling experience, she wanted something that tracks well as well as is fishable in most waters in the NW. The Tarpon 120 definitely fit the bill. There was no keeping up with her in the Coosa. She paddled circles around me.
The Coosa is one sweet boat as well. Tracks and paddles like a floating bathtub, but a wonderful fishing platform for still water. The wind was really blowing so we ended up beaching the kayaks and trying for some bass from shore. We fished for about 10 minutes before packing it in. It was my first time bass fishing and I ended up CR one small one. I will be back with my Outback to look for it's big brothers :)
I would like to thank Derek for helping my wife find the right kayak for her. It was awesome that we were able to pick up JGrady's kayak as he made some nice improvements to it that I now won't have to do. :P
Britt (my wife) is officially joining the forum as she's now one of the gang. Welcome babe and congrats on your new boat!

This video is my first attempt at video editing so it's by no means good. Since I was using the trial version of the editing software it shows the logo in the center of the screen for the first part of the video but then it goes away. I gotta say I love the GoPro.

Nice! Welcome Britt.

Paul, how'd you mount the gopro on the rear of the Cousa?

Hop I have a telescopic camera monopod that I modified to fit any rod holder. I can show you when we meet up next. It was really inexpensive to make. Around 10 bucks total (price of monopod).

Nice, man.  Good to see the ladies coming on board.  Special Lady Friend caught her first trout today.  It was from her wee little SINK, but she was squealing and giggling with delight.  There was some mention of Craigslist trolling for fishing yaks.  I think she's drinking the Kool-aide as well....

That boat is sick, BTW.  Looks fast and comfortable.  Glad it went to a good second home.

Andy there seems to be an uprising from our female counterparts as I'm seeing more and more join the addiction lately. I ain't complaining as I love fishing with my wife. But I'm not above removing her drain plug when she's not looking if she makes a habit out of out fishing me ;)
