That is really sweet, but for $99, is a bit steep.

Usually cig adaptors are for putting in a cig lighter! Imagine the looks on your buddies faces when you push in your lighter and roast up your cigar! Seriously I can see me using it. You can hook up your phone charger for one, or your gps charger, a spot light, a portable blender, t.v. or any other awesome thing!

Yeah Im mostly kidding. But I do plan on doing some camping trips via the outback. It would be nice to have a way to charge my phone or other batteries. I don't see a need for the adapter 99% of the time on water though. Or maybe I could put on an electric down rigger !

Sweet idea! I wonder if a 12v battery could comfortably power a fishfinder and an electric downrigger for a full day of fishing.

It would probably have to be the size of a car battery. There is some smart electric guys on the forum here, maybe they can figure it out. You'd have to figure what, 15-30 times of use in a day, but then from how deep per drop, the draw. Plus I think electric down riggers are huge. Maybe someone can figure out how to home build one!

I installed a 12volt receptacle for two reasons on my mini-x.
1) To plug in a underwater fish attracting light.
2) Recharge cell phone and other equipment mainly while I was resting on the beach.

Haven't used it to power the LED light which you can see directly under the red arrow.  I have used it on several occasions to recharge my cell phone while taking a break on the beach.  You burn through LOTS of batteries when you have the GPS on the iphone.  So it came in handy.  Not sure I would use it while I was on the water.  I guess I would in case of an emergency.

The battery in my hold on the left is a standard fish finder battery...I think 7amp hours.  The one on its side is a motorcycle battery rated at 18 amp hours.

It wasn't so important to me yet that I have to install one on my outback, but I will at some point I think.

Too much $$ for me but great idea.  I'm wondering if the connectors and header/cord adaptors could be be purchased individually from Digikey or Mouser...I'm gonna do a bit of searching.

You could switch out the ends of your battery charger, to a cigarette lighter end, and recharge your 12v supply with a simple plug in, rather than having to take the battery out of your kayak every time. Also, less chance of arcing or accidentally reversing polarity than with standard clamps. Not a great saver of time, but the biggest advantage I see, would be the ability to plug in a solar panel and trickle charge your supply battery all day.
