I was on the river today(sled) and was calling around to other buddies on the water seeing how the bite was different places (code for a slow day ;D).  I called a dad of a friend of mine fishing in the GR area.  I was blindsided by him ranting about "some kayakers" who were sturgeon fishing and keeping fish out of the water for "a long time" "way to long" "at least 10min" "dragging fish behind their kayaks to the bank for pictures" etc etc.  for photo sessions.  This is an older fellow, long time local fishermen, and he was fired up to say the least.  He actually had called the OSP T.I.P line and complained!  He knows I'm a kayak fishermen and I tried to explain and diffuse his anger and concern and explain just like boaters each kayaker is responsible for their own actions and don't represent the entire user group.  I'm not sure who he was fired up about but we all need to make sure we are doing our best to represent the kayaking community they best we can.  Overly critical eyes are often watching.

+2. Although I don't think it's illegal to drag an oversize into the shallows for a picture. I know some fisherman really frown on that as some feel it adds an enormous amount of stress to the fish. Debatable. But totally plausible.

What time of day was this happening? I went out there today with Sherminator on the Oasis for a shake down run and saw a couple other kayakers out there but nothing like that.

Of course, this is a subject that cuts two ways. When Younggun and I spoke with Jammer yesterday, he told us he was hit by a PB while anchored in his sturgeon hole there at George Rodgers. Stayed upright and uninjured, but that was only good fortune.

We are all fishermen, whether we stand on a bank, fish out of a kayak, stinkpot, sailboat, float tube , sit on a log, or whatever. We are all guys & gals out for some fun & relaxation. So let's all take a deep breath, count to 10, and in the words of Rodney King - "can't we all just get along?"

Thanks for the heads up, Ron. That's certainly concerning. Also, VERY concerning that jammer got hit. I'd like to hear the whole story about the PB.
