So saw this last year from my power boat, but seldovia has a human powered fishing derby may 25-27. Check it out on seldovia calendar.com

We'll need to keep an eye on this calendar, so that we'll know when more information is posted. The idea is great though -- and such a pretty spot to spend a couple days fishing at the summer's start. Would need to confirm that the water taxis are operating and have enough room to transport the Hobie fleet. Definitely interested.

Last year the prize was a handmade dory, was a damn pretty boat...

I am entertaining the idea, but would not require a water taxi, as I'd just sail the AI over  :)

You know, you and that AI are going to provoke a lot of attention around these parts!  ;D

Hmmm...I'll have to check my calendar though that's prime fishing in the inlet.  I think I have parental duties that weekend.

Can you use sail power in the derby? Kenai_guy had a hobie sail that looked interesting. As a poor mans AI and for my kids, I was considering attaching my mini x somehow as an outrigger of sorts. Hmmmm....

I would leave the sail and an ama in Seldovia when fishing, just taking my paddle with a T handle and my flippers, a la outrigger canoe.

I have my kids as well but the gf and I were talking of going over and taking their sit a tops so they could play in the slough with me when I'm not fishing.

1 ama outrigger style is really nice on the AI.

I think that can make for a pretty sweet rig. I am mulling over ideas for making an ama for my Oasis. The added stability is appealing for a tandem, but the real attraction is the extra space on the tramp. I am interested in hearing reports on the advantages and disadvantages.
