With all the great spring fisheries in the Portland area Next Adventure decided to mix things up a bit and run a single tournament to target all of them.  On Saturday May 5th through Sunday May 6th Next Adventure is hosting the inaugural Next Adventure Kayak Fishing Grand Slam.  The event is a multi-species tournament targeting five different species; sturgeon, steelhead, salmon, bass and walleye.  More details on the tournament and the registration are posted on the Next Adventures Web site.

We are really excited about this tournament and hope to see all of you there.

That is a great idea! Who will be the AOTW (Angler Of The Weekend). I am bummed, I checked my daughter's swim meet schedule and she will have a meet that weekend :( If she ends up not swimming at that meet for any reason I will be all over this like a sturgeon on an anchovy :)

This is great a great idea Nate.  Although it conflicts with puget sound bottomfish opening weekend.  Sorry I'll have to miss it.

We are only 2 days away from the start of the Next Adventure Kayak Fishing Grand Slam.  The weather is looking pretty good and there are plenty of fish in the river, so you guys have no excuse to not sign up.
Also, telling your significant other that you are in a tournament all weekend tends to make it a bit easier to get away with fishing all weekend.

Sheesh, I promised my grandson that I'd take him to Klineline Pond Saturday morning for the kids fishing derby. Guess I'll have to hustle on Sunday to compete. Also WA regs prohibit removing Salmon and Sturgeon from the water which will make photos hard to do. Am I wrong about this. Those darn regs require a lawyer to decipher.

You're not wrong.  They cannot be removed from the water.

The tournament rules page says they are allowing for:

Measuring:  All fish must be measured on the water to the best of the angler’s ability using a rigid measuring device.  The measurement of oversized sturgeon or native salmon/steelhead should be done in accordance with local regulations to minimize stress on the fish.  Length estimates using an object of known length can be use as a substitute for an actual measurement for oversized sturgeon and native salmon/steelhead only.

Unfortunately, we were not not able to get enough participants for this weekends tourney so we decided to cancel it for now and save all the prizes for a yet to be determined tournament later this year.
If anyone is still interested in going for multiple species I am planning on being on the water all day Saturday to see what I can find.

I was just going to sign up. :(  Ah well, since I pretty much have to be gone for work the next three weeks, my wife will appreciate be being around this weekend.

I wanted to fish it but I couldn't dedicate two days to it. Can we just do it over one day when it's rescheduled? It would be fun to fish from sun up to sun set.
