It is my plan to put a scotty rod holder on the lid of the rod pod on my OK 13 and in the center console of my mini-x today.  Wish me luck... oh, and if I am about to do something terribly wrong, please say something.  I don't start until late this afternoon. :)

Make sure you put it far enough fwd so it doesn't interfere with your paddling. I made that mistake initially on my F'n'D. Now all of my rod holders are past where my feet end. It's easy to forget, or not even realize how much room you need to paddle until you start smacking your rods or getting caught in your line every other stroke.

As Rav said make sure rod holder mounts/rodholders are not in the way of paddling or fish management space on the deck of your yak.  But more importantly make sure they are not in the way or in anyway impede your ability to preform a successful on the water re-boarding.
