Hey everyone,

I have seen a few people talking about the LifeProof iPhone case on different forums and thought you might like to read a bit of a review I did.  I love this case.  A bit pricey, but it is definitely worth the money in my opinion.

Pretty cool. I will probably pick one up. Do you know if there's a way to clip it to a lanyard?  With my clumsy hands, just being waterproof won't save it from the briny depths.

Thanks! Great review! Does it happen to have a way to attach a lanyard?

I don't know of an OEM lanyard but there are GoPro mounting kits, etc. on their website at http://www.lifeproof.com

Bummer on the lanyard thing... that has been the one thing that has kept me from picking one up.  I have been eyeing them for awhile, but you are the first real person I have heard that has one.  Seems like some type of connection point for a loop would be a no brainer for the manufacturer to include... it would keep adventures like it falling from the pocket from occurring. Again, really great review.

I got mine the other day.  My reactions are mixed.  But overall I think it's decent first go at this.

Haven't tried it on the water yet.

Some things I like:

* excellent handling of the buttons.  The button guards are a nice touch.
* no detectable diminishment of ear sound, speaker sound or mic.  AWESOME
* camera works great!  will eliminate the need for me to carry my still camera on the water.
* like the tacky rubber cover.  one of my problems with the iphone is it's so dang slippery!

Don't like:

* COST (here's to hoping the iphone 5 doesn't have a different form factor)
* waterproofing method on the jack is not great.  The screw plug should be attached to the case (or attach-able).  The plug is just begging to be lost.  Or worse, I will forget to put it back in and the phone will get wet.  This is the weakest part of the case, big time.
* no built-in lanyard attachment.  Given the bottom has so much rubber material, it would have been easy to add a pin (metal or hard plastic) in there.  I am guessing they want you to buy their additional float/lanyard piece...but in my opinion, if you have a lanyard, you don't really need a float.
* I'd prefer all-white rather than the duo-tone white/grey (on the white version).  The black one is all black, AFAIK.

I made some hack-y attempts at fixing a couple issues:

You *can* attach a wrist strap thru one of the holes at the base, this is there to help the voice travel to the mic.  There are two holes, and if you use a thin enough lanyard, it won't block the hole.  Nobody at the receiving end of my phone conversations has complained, so I am assuming this works fine.  It's not reinforced, so too much pressure on this and it will rip right thru the rubber.

I didn't like the jack-plug-keeper as a separate piece (also begging to be lost), so I sewed it to the strap. Might help me not lose the plug.  Hopefully, I will remember to replace the plug before fishing!

I got one and I'd say it works as advertised but it can't be my daily use case. Sound is just too muffled. Bought a blue tooth head set and that worked great until I washed it...and a second one. Argh.

So I'll use it on water but I understand that it's not rated to be opened a bunch of times. I figure I'm not scuba diving with it so it should be ok. If i drop it anywhere where i can pick it up immediately, like over a 10ft of water, its probably toast anyways. I still lean toward my otter box defender case and a ziplock bag.

If you can deal with less than steller sound then it might be for you.

Are you talking about the sound for the phone or the speakers?  I hadn't noticed any diminishment for either.  Though I am not known for sharp hearing ability.
