I took the Tarpon 120 I picked up from JPCrowley on the 4th out today. I launched
from a beach near Pillar Point. Decided to not take fishing gear today.Probably a good
idea. Being this was my first time in a kayak I had my hands full learning just to get comfortable.

Paddled around some kelp beds and saw bait fish cruising.  Soon found out you use much
different muscles than when rowing a drifter. After a while I felt more at ease with my balance,
but decided I better head back in. The waves that didn't bother me on the way out seemed much larger
on the way in.  I made it in though without turning over. Seemed like a big at the time, but they were really pretty small.

Next time I'll try a little fly fishjng.

Hope to meet some of you guys on the water.

Sweet!  Nice boat choice too. I have a Tarpon 120 as a backup to my Hobie Outback and I love it. Hope to get to fish with you soon.

   Good for you iggie,
You were wise to take your new boat out and just attempt to feel it out.Your comfort level will grow each time out from here on.And those muscles that might be a little bit sore right now will get used to the different strain you'll be putting on them. And you will be putting a strain on them in time.
It's cool you didn't huli on your 1st attempt in the salt.Trust me,your time will come.Just be prepared and have the correct gear on.Going with a buddy is also a good idea if you have that option.
Welcome to the world of kayaking.

By the way --where are you at on the Peninsula ?
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Iggie, hope that we can connect for some river cataraft fishing and then some beach kayak adventures.  Good hearing from you today.
Kayak fishing?  I have no clue, but I'm doing it.
