I've been looking at getting a video cam i can wear on my head. I dont have and don't want to buy a camcorder, and i want to spend as little as possible. Under 200 bucks. I'm really looking at the go pro  hero wristcam, like floatin cowboy has. This video on youtube kinda  has me leaning hard to this little, but impressive camera.

I tried to embed it , but couldn't get it to work, so i just linked it.

I was also looking at this Oregon Scientific model,

what do you guys think?

Water Wolf QCI was playing with cams last year, including at Moutcha Bay.

Here's a thread from last year- http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,247.msg1669.html#msg1669

Roy here's your video embedded

The code looks like this
Code: [Select]
Basically you place the weird code at the end of a youtube URL within youtube tags.

I've played around with the Oregon Scientifc helmet cam a bit (my wife had a couple for work).  I mounted it on the back of my kayak during a NorCal striped bass tournament for a different view.  The resolution isn't great, but I had it stepped down a bit to get more time on the card (3 hrs on a 2Gb card at this resolution).  The finer resolution settings get you about an hour.  I think it would be neat to use several of these at once (helmet, behind, frontal (i.e. vanity), and maybe one on a pole for underwater fish shots).

I think i got the imbed thing now, i was pasting the whole line from the box on the right on youtube instead of just the short code.

Is that the ATC 2k Action Brian? That one is only 84 bucks on Amazon. I think the resolution is fine for what im looking for.

then i could spend the leftover dough on fishing gear...

Yep, that's an ATC2k in action mounted on a pvc pole on the back of my kayak.  They really are pretty waterproof.  My wife was submerging them inside crab traps in about 5 ft of water for a study on the invasive European green crabs in Bodega Harbor.  I stole one for the weekend to play around.  The only annoying thing is that there is no LCD screen so you have to wait until you get back to your computer to see what you managed to shoot.

cool, they said splash resistant so if they can submerged, even better.

A head mount that stays pointed where you look would be the ticket, but i dont want to wear a helmet. Obviously, i have to have to wear my lucky fishin hat..

Its 1.3 pounds but i got an idea for a head mount. use a plastic face shield for eye protection and just use the adjustable head band part and mount the clip to it in the middle top and pad it so it's comfy. Then just cut a little square hole in my fishin hat so the clip will show through.

The ATC2k comes with a variety of straps (rubber and velcro).  I'm sure you could figure out a way to use it without a helmet.  I wore one snorkling by attaching it to my mask strap.

Which camera is 1.3 lbs?  The ATC2k is more like 5 oz.  Maybe you're looking at the shipping weight.

According to Amazon it's 1.3 pounds, 2 pounds shipping weight. It seems small to weigh that much though.

I looked at the OS website and it didn't have a weight anywhere.

I found more info on it. Weather connection says half pound with batteries. Thats more like it.

Amazon didn't have it in stock  so i just bought it from a website that had it for 99 and free shipping. I think theres a few that have the same deal.

OK, in my haste i ordered the cam from what i thought was an official Oregon Scientific outlet site but turned out to be some generic outlet site.
So, instead of shipping from Portland  the things coming from NYC. When i ordered the checkout page said ground shipping was 2-5 business days. It shipped today and I got a tracking number from UPS today with a delivery date of 2/13. 6 days, but free shipping...so not much to do about it, just piss and moan a little i guess..

The place was factoryoutletstore.com

I purchased a couple of cameras off Sean from Sports shot...Im not a technical dude and this stuff was easy to use and pretty durable...I use the flexmount for my onboard camera and a google mount that can also be mounted to a visor and adjusted so as to get rid of the visor in the viewer...
I also use a pelican fanny pack which can be a bit of a nuisence when landing bigger fish but it also is a lifesaver when you are dealing with spray and rain...The battery packs last longer than my cameras battery so that sucks and setting it up in the boat in the water isnt that easy so you pretty much have to start it up and go for as long as you can...Ive missed allot of good stuff by not pushing record and then shutting the pelican case thinking I had...I wish there was some kind of remote...But I dont think there is...
Anyways...Sean is out of Utah...Call him and chat...
