Knot Strength Testing

The Prusik knot seems like a neat way to add a dropper to a leader. It requires a loop and I wanted to see if a simple figure eight on a bite would hold up as a dropper. To test the strength I attached my GoPro to a cheesy Cabela's Fish Scale. I used 20 lb mono and the results were pretty consistent. The loop always broke right at the knot at about 22 lb.

Great video Ihop!  Now lets see the line strength on the main line with your dropper loop in between. 

I also tested some 30 lb mono (snapped at 35 lb) and the scale broke! Gotta replace it first.

Awesome idea.  Now try it with the Prusik and see where it breaks.

Gotta get a new scale from Cabela's before I can continue the experiments.
