So i went out tonight to the local pond where i usually target Bass in. paddled out to the island, dropped anchor, made a couple casts on the carolina rig, got a couple little bites, but nothing on the hook- probably little bluegill anyway.  time to change spots, go to the honey hole, ive caught plenty nice fish out there.
fished for a little bit, with no bass, but had a couple bumps from some smaller fish again, so i out on a mini jig head, and used a little section of my plastic as a skirt and ended up catching a crappie and a few blue gill casting toward shore.
I was anchored so i pullled the trolley and turned the boat around and was seeing swirls when the wind calmed slightly. i started targeting the swirls and it proved successful and i started catching some decent bluegill, at least im catching them, and hoping for a mess of crappie for breakfast.
Anyways, its getting dark now, still casting, hoping for my first bass of the year,. Swirl. Cast. Bam!  there she is, thats my Bass. I'm stoked.  another second later the fish pulls for the first time, line starts stripping off the real- I'm thinking, this is a nice one.  Next second, Line is still stripping, i reach up and tighten the drag a little to try and stop this fish. after a little fighting i get this fish stopped, i try bringing this fish in, and can't get anything, its caught up in the weeds, i need to pull up my anchor- pole in one hand, rope in the other- i use my teeth to help get this anchor in- Sleighride on! this goes on until i get this fish boatside. water is about 5 feet deep, and i can see this catfish, laying on the bottow, in and amongst the weed, i look up at my ultralite rod, noodled to the max, and this fish doesnt move- im thinking, im never going to get this thing out of the water, i keep the pressure on, get this fish to the surface, one last little run under the bow of the boat and thats it, i pull and this fish rolls over and shows me her belly, i reach down, pull her in- I just caught the biggest fish i've ever caught from my kayak!  fish in the belly of the boat between my legs, my dog out on the bow of my boat, scared of this fish thats as big as she is- (i snapped a picture)  paddled back to the launch, laid this fish up next to my paddle with the handy measure lines on it-  30" i must brag!  snapped a pic of her laying next to the paddle, and said measuring tool, took a couple of self portraits just me and her, gave her a kiss, and then let her go, to become a legend- I felt like i just "catfish jack", but it felt good to see that fish swim away, back into the water from which she came
