hello

I am still in the shopping stage for a fishing kayak and I came across and brand new Ocean Kayak Malibu XL tandum model for sale for 500.00.  It is located at the Sportsmans warehouse in Lacey across the hwy from Cabela's.  The regular price is 719.00.

Seems like a good deal for a new Yak. With two seats? how about a paddle?, doesn't show one on the OK site. Paddle is another 100 bucks for a decent one

If your gonna use it alone mostly, alot of room for gear, and fish.. And you can take someone with you if you want , that's kinda cool.

Welcome to the NWKA..
See ya on the water..

Bayyaker,

Will you mostly be fishing alone in that tandem?  Have you ever paddled a long canoe with no one in the front?  It's a lot the same.  The bow catches the least bit of wind and blows all over the place.  Kinda of a major hassle if you're a mile or more from shore.

P.M. Charles66 and ask him what's his opinion of that particlular yak.  I think he had one just like it.

If at first you don't succeed....  maybe skydiving is just not for you.

Ummm ... the Ocean Kayak Malibu 2XL has center seating so doesn't suffer the same issue that the Malibu Pro2 does (where you need to sit in back).

See those footwells along the side of the front seat?  Those are the footwells for the center seat.  The center seat is that space between the footwells for the rear seat.  Kind neat, huh?

sorry for the confusion.  I did not buy it due to financial reasons.  I am leaning toward a redfish 12 or a kayak that has the option for seating for my young son to tag along with me.

Ya gotta be discerning when you look at buying a M2XL. Dunno about the other OK boats, but the M2XL comes with no hatches! Not only do you have to break out the router or saber saw, or pay big to have someone put them put on, but the 8" round ones cost ~$60 each, and the big oval $75. For nothing more than a ROUND PIECE OF GROOVED RUBBER!!! And they're under-engineered to boot.

In the end you're going to be adding a couple hundred bucks for something that should be standard.
