Hello all-

Just bought myself a pair of Pro Angler 14s and the wife and I have been fishing the Chehalis, Hoquiam, Satsop, Humptulips, Wynoochee Rivers, and all the various local

lakes.  Still haven't caught much, but diligently searching for good salmon/steelhead plunking/trolling techniques.    Looking forward to talking with all of you.   Tight lines!

Welcome!  I think Mark Collett lives in your neck of the woods.  He can certainly give you some tips.  He's on this board now and again.

   Wecome to the cure Rich.
You have entered into a great site with an incredible knowledge (that is willingly shared most of the time) base, lots of good times, and some pretty funny dudes.Glad to have you aboard.

As you have stated--Grays Harbor has a lot of places to wet a line.If you have been fishing all the spots you've listed and have not caught much--- something must be going on.Not sure what background you have fishing so I'd say we need to get together and PowWow.I am happy to share expirence and what I have learned with you.And hopefully get you into some fish. You have a great start with your PA's as far as equipment.
Let's hook up and swap stories and see if we can plan some time on the water.I work at Harbor Paper and am halfway through a week of graveyard shift-will be off Tuesday (my wife's birthday) and Wednesday. Then a week of swing shift.Pm me with contact info and we can make it happen.
Fishing season never ends in Washington---it just gets a little wetter. :o

   Again welcome to the cure.........

She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Great forums here.  Everyone is extremely friendly.
Yes rev the turbofin mirage drive in the PA14s make cutting through current a breeze.  Even with outgoing tide on the Chehalis you can still fight upstream at a decent clip if your legs have the stamina lol.  I have just been anchoring up in calm areas and throwing corkie/yarn/eggs and a combination of blue foxes and run the occasional Kwikfish behind the yak.  Haven't tried to wrap kwikfish with herring strip or cut-plug herring with dodger yet either.  Just installed fish finder and now just have to figure out how to get the bait/lure down to where they are.  Haven't used a downrigger or diver yet but am thinking on installing a downrigger eventually.  Still figuring things out.  Am going to float the upper Satsop in the morning and see how I do on the random river bars.   Look forward to meeting you Mark.  I work about 3 blocks from you haha.  Thanks again for the support all.

I could see where the PA would be good on the chehalis - I have taken my kayak out there too.  I was thinking of the satsop and others... be careful, already they have had a number of drift boats flip this year.  Enjoy.  :)

Water was perfect on the Satsop.  Every boat (ton of 'em) seemed to be doing pretty good with one or two in the boat.   Got a small native coho to the net and released quickly.  All around good day.  Thinking Chehalis tomorrow if the weather holds.   Definetly need to get some sort of anchoring system for swift rocky bottom rivers.  Possibly a scotty anchor rig, and small driftboat pyramid anchor for the stern.  Tight lines.

I'd love to fish Willapa Bay or Grays Harbor area.......I have a 12 SOT that I think would be fun to float down a river, but as of yet I'm too inexperienced for that, I think. Any luck in salt water so far?
