I am living in Spanaway, WA and was told about Spanaway Lake. I was wondering if anyone had any information on some Crappie or Bass fishing on this lake? Thanks for any info.

No idea about that lake, but welcome to WA!  I'll actually be in Spanaway tonight and tomorrow night.  Won't have any chance, really, to meet up never mind fish though.  I'm taking the exam for the Professional Engineer license at the Puyallup Fairgrounds tomorrow and am just staying with my wife's relatives.

Best wishes on nailing that PE exam tomorrow, Sumpnz.  The pressure of high stakes professional entry exams still surfaces in dreams of mine 27 years later.

Welcome whitten1823!  Can't tell you about Spanaway Lake, but that's a honkin' bass in your profile pic!

Thanks!  My stomach will be feeling a whole lot better tomorrow night (well, until the vast quantities of alcohol reach it).

Spanaway lake is a solid winter trout fishery. Drag flies at painfully slow speeds right on the bottom for planted browns. There are better lakes in that area for bass though. Kapowsen *spelling* and Tapps are solid bass lakes.  Tapps is one of few western WA lakes that is stocked with tiger musky too!

Couldn't find Kapowsen, but found Tapps. From what I read it's saying the Crappie fishing should be kicking in, the water temp just got below 50 degrees. I think I'll be hitting up Tapps next Saturday. Would you happen to know any good areas for kayak fishing?

Not really. I don't fish up that way too often, but quite a few of my friends are in the know. I'll see what I can track down for you.

Just make sure you check the regs - it's that time of year when lots of lakes are closed for winter.
