John's Sporting Goods in Everett is selling these reels at $149, which is at least $20 less than you'll find anywhere else.  I believe Shimano strictly controls what retailers can their products can sell for, so this must be the minimum or close to it.  Good price on what is prolly my fav reel ever (next to the zebco barbie spincast, of course).

see page 7: http://www.johnssportinggoods.com/northwest-fishing-journal/2012-northwest-fishing-journal/view?path=2012%20September.pdf

Also some damn good coho intel in there for you sounders.

Anyway, that price is good thru sept 30.  I'll prolly be stopping in there on a snoho trip to pick yet another tekota up.  can't have too many.

Thanks for posting this.  I've been wanting to get one of these for a while.  Sadly, I can't drop the money on it right now.  Moving is expensive, and so is hunting.

I've been looking closely at the 500lc or 600lc for a couple months. my only heavy reel right now is an old spining reel, and it dosnt work that great in the kayak. A little to far of a drive for me though.

I've had a couple 500LCs for over 5 years.  Line counters work fine, and they still have the smoothest drag around.
