Sea Lions in the vicinity seem to make their prescence known pretty quickly so I do drag if I don't see or hear them, if I know they are around they come into the boat, sometimes I throw them in the hold, which on my boat has a big hatch, then you gotta rinse the hold though, kind of an extra step in clean up.  While at La Push I was unable to drag them due to the Sea Lions.  And I lost a whole stringer last year while stupidly trying to transfer them to my hold.

Bahwaahaaa!!!!! Ohb - you post totally sounded like you were saying that if a sea lion comes around your yak you just grab them and throw them in the hold!!! I totally had the image of you beating down a sea lion and trying to stuff him in the yak before fish and game officials show up.  rotflol!!!

Just a heads up.  I found that 42" Surf to Summit bag on sale at West Marine for $66.77, marked down from $100.

You're Right Rev, bad writing, have yet to bag a Sea Lion, if they give us season I will try ;)  I like to put the fish in the hold, the Strait temps in the mid 40's year round put's a nice chill on them.

I hate sea lions. Maybe a good target for a gaffe hook. Oh wait... I don't want to promote anything illegal.  :banjo:

I have a YakCatch3 I got for $40 back a few years back.  Seems the price has gone way up if you can find them.

I don't like cleaning out all the blood from the bag, so I don't bleed my fish in the bag.  I slip a big game clip through the gills and let them bleed out in the Revo rear "live well", or I trail them in the water by hand or in the net.  When they are mostly done, I'll throw them in the bag.
