When I first started reading this thread I assumed WAF meant "WIFE AGAINST FISHING"

Isn't that redundant?

The wife lets me fish as much as I want. Just one rule. If I don't catch fish I can't come home. :)

I'm imagining a companion site, NorthWestWivesAgainstFishing.org (NWWAF.org) where our wives and girlfriends go to bitch about how all we want to do is go fishing. And when they finally let us, we never come home with any fish.

Sounds great!  Don't forget the sub-forums for recipes, odor removal and proper cleaning and storage of dry/thermal gear.

Good stuff here.  I have to deal with WASO - wife against squid odor - and get undressed in the garage after I come home from dino fishing.  Odor removal is a very real and serious topic around our house.

Interesting thread ... Don't think we'd be 32-years married if we didn't both love being outdoors, and being outdoors together is best but not required. E.g., I don't hunt, but enjoy berry picking and camp cooking while he's stalking game. He doesn't kayak fish, or fish much at all -- but loves kayaking and remote float trips, often play boating while I'm teasing rainbows, dollies and grayling. We work at making the middle ground a pretty wide stretch of marital real estate. As long as both are feeding our souls, it works. Doesn't have to be the same way.

So what you are saying it's a win win :D

The WAF is a major factor in my lack of abilty to get out even after she encouraged me to get the yak to go fishing.  She always says you can go but then throws out things like we never get to see you since you work on saturdays or the kids miss you and sunday is our only day together....blah blah blah.  Well Sunday is my only free day to go unless it is the evening.  I do take both my kids out with me from time to time (6 and 3) and my 6 year old wants a kayak of his own now so just maybe I can start taking him more often as a work around to the WAF.
