Saw this on the Spearboard NW forum (I think I've found my new saltwater passion 8)).
This must be what the bottom looks like those times when you catch a Ling on every drop, one right after another. I can't believe the density of the lings  (big ones too :o) and how they literally carpet every nook and cranny of the bottom.  Cool video for sure.

that is one cool video - there was a lot of big fish down there. Looks like any bait a kayaker put down there wouldn't last too long  ;D

That is so cool. I like how the coral (or whatever they are) glows white. It's like a whole new planet down there.

Lingcarpet.

That's absolutely nuts.   Makes you wonder how often lings just look at your bait and think "meh, I'm not really hungry right now"

That's what I was thinking.  How can it be that sometimes I DON'T catch lingcod.  Amazing to see that many just lounging.

How could you NOT snag one or more just on accident?
Imagine tail hooking a 40+ incher.  What a fight that would be!!   :o

Heh at 4:40 in the video, the ROV submarine bumps an absent-minded (sleeping?) Quillback.

Yeah, I saw it on spearboard as well.  I won't be diving to 125 feet, but I'll be dropping a big jig that far.  I never realized how social those fish were.  I figured they just went their own way, but apparently they like to hang out together sometimes.

That, or this diver stumbled across the annual Ling "rave beneath the waves".
