Thought about posting that too.  It's only waterproof to 3 meters, so I would recommend having it inside the hull during launch and return.  :-)

I think that's the default for most WP cameras.

I've recently started looking at the Sony AS 10 camera; looks to be a good one so far. I've read that the audio is supposed to be step-up from the others both in and out of the water.

From Sony's specs, the camera is waterproof down to 197 feet with the case.
~$178 without wifi and $278 with.

Still, it's hard to not think of the price-point on those Kodak Playsports.
