I'm looking for a new fishing PFD with a high back design and good safety color visibility for this season.  I've been using a Stearns fishing PFD that's tan colored and has a full back for the last 7 yrs.  I've got my eye on either a NRS Chinook or Stohlquist Fisherman highback that are comparably priced at around $100.  What fishing PFD's are most popular/recommended?  Thanks!

I owned a Stohlquist Fisherman. It's a good quality PFD. I've noticed it's a popular choice. I use the Kokatat Bahai Tour and I love it. Super comfortable, high back, great pockets, and the mango/yellow color makes you visible.

I have the deluxe version of that Stolhquist and I have nothing else to compare it to but it is awesome. Lots of storage space for all the things I like to carry on my person. I find it very comfortable. I don't feel like it is too cumbersome. It cost me $110 and I believe it is well worth the money.

Did you purchase the Kokatat locally? That's a model that wasn't on my radar and looks like it could be a great choice as well.  Who carries the best selection of fishing PFD's in the Portland area where I could go to try some on?

I got mine online from Austin Kayak.
Some of the local shops might carry this model such as Next Adventure.

Next Adventure doesn't carry any kokatat stuff but they do carry NRS, MTI, and Stolquist. I think they even had a couple on sale the other day.

I really like the functional looks and pocket/zipper design on the Kokatat compared with the other two.  ACK's price looks competitive with free shipping too.

Learning about this make/model to consider is just another example of why being a member on this forum is great!

I have the NRS chinook.  I love it, lots of pockets and very comfortable fully adjustable for my big shoulders and gut.

Picked up a MTI Dorado on clearance for <$50 (more scratch for tackle) as well as the most comfortable of the ones I tried on, IMHO.

Where did you find the Dorado on clearance, and did they have any hi-vis colors?
