Ok ive read alot about salmon fishin on here and was just lookin for an opinion on somethin... ok if your trollin in a yak for salmon whats better to use with a diver like a deep six a flasher, kone zone, or dodger and what size?  Do you really need one or could you just pull a cut plug around?

Most people in a kayak just use lead instead of divers in the rivers.  Anywhere from 4 to 8 oz should do the trick for where most guys fish in the rivers.  Flashers like Kone Zone or Short Bus or whatever are a good idea, but if you're in the rivers near Portland, many people are skipping the flashers because the water is so clear right now.

In the salt the fish, especially the Kings may be deeper than we can realistically troll, the addition of the deep six gets my gear down closer to where the fish are, I use the smaller flashers, they definitely help increase visibility,  Coho and pinks may be found closer to the surface and at daybreak the Kings too, rivers I have no experience.

My ocean salmon gear down here in Nor Cal = DeepSix, Herring Dodger or HotSpot or other dodger/flasher, then a mooching slip rig for pinning an anchovy on.  The terminal end can either include a hoochy or not - basically depends on how pretty the chovies are that day.   :)
See you at Gimme Shelter

As much as I would love to hook a nice fat king from a yak I know im basically limited to coho, pinks, and chums... which size of divers and flashers do you use ohbryant?

Anyone had any success with the Brads Cut Plug lures?  Found a really neat way to rig em after I purchased 2 a black and blue one cause I figured why not try it... lol experimenting is how I found my go to ling lures after all

Actually, after using lead for awhile, I've switched to a deep six diver and find it easier to work with.  I don't have a mirage drive though.
