So just a quick couple questions for those of you in the SW or SE Portland.

Is there anywhere that sells Quality Green Label herring, went to Fishermans Warehouse in Delta park and all the frozen stuff they had there was losing scales and had bloodshot eyes, the Bi-Mart in Woodstock had no green label at all! Where should I go?

Also been trolling for springers around Sellwood bridge with no luck in 4 trips, any suggestions? Just keep it up or move spots?

Anywhere nearby where I could catch a few trout for the pan? Not looking for a trophy just a nice little dinner.

As always if you are in the PDX area and want a fishing partner, let me know because I am ready and willing to learn, and help where I can!

Cheers,
Bernie

For herring try Dicks and Sportmans Warehouse.
Fishing has been slow for lots of folks, because there are just not that many fish in the system.  I  caught a few fish around Sellwood last year, and will probably end up fishing it Friday afternoon.
For trout there are lots of options, your best bet is to check the stocking reports and then do some exploring.

Ollie Damon's has green label herring, but call ahead because sometimes they run out.  Like ndogg said, there just aren't a lot of fish in the system right now.  The water is REALLY low and clear for this time of year.  Once we start getting some rain the bite should pick up.

The Salmon are just waiting for me to show up on Saturday.

I've bought good fish at Dicks in Lake Oswego.

I'm not even going to attempt springer fishing until the numbers are better.  Here are the three ways I'm going to use to determine when that is.

1.)  Keep an eye on the fish count at Willamette Falls.  Right now we're getting one or two fish a day over the falls.  When that number starts to ramp up to near 100 / day I'll start fishing.

2.) Alternatively, I'm going to try the old school method of waiting until the neighborhood dogwood trees are in bloom.

3.) Forget all that and just wait. I plan on concentrating my fishing on the last couple weeks in April and the first couple weeks in May.
