I spent the weekend with eye sensitivities ... but I got Lasik done on Friday.  Woohoo!  I can see!  It's a miracle!

Hey Allen, you'll notice from now on that you will be more sensitive to lights.  I know you probably already wear sunglasses all the time, but I'd also recommend picking up a pair of polarized glasses for night driving.  Some of those blue colored headlights, and the LED tailights can be damn near debilitating, especially after a day of looking at computer screens.  I had mine done in late 2005, and it's one of the best things I ever spent a large chunk of money on.

I got Lasic done about 8 years ago and told the doctor yesterday that it was greatest thing I ever did. He's 42 and thought maybe he was too old for it. Told him I was 60 when I got it.

I split this thread off from Hoppa's lest we threadjack that one too much.

Thanks for the tips Lee.  I'l keep those in mind.

I'm 43.  I should have done this years ago.  I always had one excuse or another not to get it done, and now I'm kicking myself.  The flip side is that my reading sight is just starting to degrade.  I don't have to wear readers yet, but that day will come soon.

My dad went from Coke-bottle glasses to just readers.  As he said, it's great for distance vision, but it doesn't change the fact that he's over 50 (66 now), and the readers are just a fact of life for most folks over 50.

I did have the option to do monovision correction, where they correct one eye for distance and the other for reading.  But my reading sight is just starting to degrade, so I didn't want to fix it for my current reading prescription only to have it get worse later.  I figured I'd get my distance sight fixed so at least that's good to go, and deal with readers as necessary.

15 months and I LOVE IT!!!

-11 diopter to nearly perfect vision!!! I will say I have noticed a moderate degradation of my night vision.

I never knew how cool good sunglasses were. Never owned a decent pair.

In my book it's a miracle.

I opted for mono vision. Started with -8 diopter contacts. Being left handed my left eye is now 20/25 and right eye is 20/40 which allows me to read without cheaters. I prefer to read on my iPad since it's larger print ;-)

Lasik does make your eyes a little more sensitive to intense sunlight DAMHIK.

These are my polarized UV shades with magnifiers to make tying knots easier. Cheap but effective (if you don't leave them in the car).

Good choice. My sons had it done first and finally got me to have it done five years later. Wise sons. one of the best decisions I ever made. Finally got my wife to do it. You won't regret it. Every once in awhile I find myself trying to take my contacts out, and it's been 7 years ago!
