Has anyone tried using a Penn reel and 100 (?) lb dacron as a line to place and pull traps?

I think Howard McKim does exactly that up in Ketchikan and I planned on trying it out sometime.  Let me know how it goes for you.

A fellow (who tried something similar) on another forum mentioned that the dacron binds into itself causing a mess and that when it touches anything sharp under the load it parts easily, losing your gear.

I use a 1/4" rope (braided nylon)
any thing smaller tends to hurt my hands while retrieving a load from the bottom.
