Michele and I take Ashore Water Taxi to Sadie Cove. Good thing we did.  The water coming back was 5 footers from ALL directions!  But we were inside a cove so it was perfect. Flat calm water in the cove, blowing 20knts and 3 footers and wind chop outside the cove so it Michele a wide range of water to try.

She wanted to paddle so she took the mini-x.  Very very few clams, no halibut. One take down that had to be a king.  Other than that it was pollock and flounders.

This area will be awesome when more fish show.  We will do it again!

First video was me peddling my outback while Michele was taking pictures.  We just put paddles across and it moved both kayaks reasonably well.  This makes me think I should do something like this or when I first take the kids out.

Second video, wind is blowing so hard Michele can't paddle to one side.  Needs to work on technique but did great for her first time out with a paddle.

Looks like you had a nice day out there -- it's a pretty cove.  Early days -- we'll be in the fish soon. In the meantime, investing in time to allow M. to gain comfort and confidence is time well spent.  Think you're right about a similar approach with your kids (but I know nothing of kids). Is Pudge's class helping to kindle the fire?

Appreciate the report and pics Rudy
Sadie Cove is a special place --for sure.I've had many great times there.

Sorry to hear you didn't connect with too many fish ( or at least not what you were looking for).Keep trying.
  They will be there...
Were you trolling herring below a banana weight ?

At least you and Michele got out and she got her comfort level boosted.Better luck next time.
Life is short---live it tall.

Be kinder than necessary--- everyone is fighting some kind of battle.

Sailors may be struck down at any time, in calm or in storm, but the sea does not do it for hate or spite.
She has no wrath to vent. Nor does she have a hand in kindness to extend.
She is merely there, immense, powerful, and indifferent

Second video, wind is blowing so hard Michele can't paddle to one side.  Needs to work on technique but did great for her first time out with a paddle.

In case Michele would like some feedback ...

She needs to reach more with the paddle entering at her feet.  Pull with one arm and push with the other.  In the video she has a timid reach and stroke.  Also, she may want to widen her grip a little.

First time out with a paddle, huh?  She did pretty good!  I'm sure she'll get the swing of it real fast.

We were trolling herring behind 12oz banana sinker.

Thanks for the feedback Allen! I will let her know. Probably wont be long till she signs up here.  More a photographer but she will probably out catch me,

Akfishergal, her fly fishing classes start tomorrow.  Three nights. She's psyched!

See any bears?

No bears. We looked for a few minutes. South facing was snow free but everything else had quite a bit of snow.
