Good day everyone,
A buddy of mine took me out trout fishing on one of his Hobie Revolutions a week ago and I was instantly hooked. After getting home and talking to the old lady she gave the thumbs up on getting a yak under 2 conditions  1. She wants ocean fish ( at some point) and 2. I buy her one as well. So here I am looking for a couple of yak's and soaking up all the info on this site and looking forward to meeting new people.

Welcome Welcome,

As a fairly new guy myself I can vouch for the ammount of information on this site. Be sure to check out the safety section for gear recomendations and info on go or no-go condition when fishing the ocean. Dont be afraid to ask lots of questions, people on here are more than happy to share experience with new comers.  I feel like I have learned SOOO much already and I've only been a memeber since Feb.   Welcome to the addicition, once you catch that first fish from a few inches above the water, you'll be hooked!!!

Have your wife talk to my wife!! I have been very  subtly and not so subtly trying to get permission to upgrade from my SinK to a Hobie. I would go to a SOT but I think it is just an unnecessary step when I really want the pedal power!

Welcome, you live in a great spot to meet up with some great yak anglers. Craigslist is a good resource for finding used ones. Next Adventure has all the Hobies and other great fishing yaks. Many of us are happy to take you out and loan you a kayak, too.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I have been a crack head checking craigslist (Both Portland and Seattle) like 15 times a day. I have check out Next Adventure. Talked to Jeff down there. Great guy. I have narrowed my selection down to the Outback or the Revolution 13. and the wife and I are talking about getting one of each. This will also allow me to take either depending on where and what type of fishing I'm doing. Besides that the lack of seeing them on-line used is pushing us to buy new however I'm having more of the hard time swallowing the cost of 2 new ones and then all the additions like fins, rudders and mounts that ill need to add to them.

It's only money...you'll make more! Go for it while the wife is onboard!

Way Cool for new additions to the Hobie Family!

I had been looking for used hobie revo11 and ended up buying new from Next Adventure.  Just do it.  Money isn't any fun unless you spend it, and life is all about having fun.

Check out the rockfish clinic scheduled at Next Adventure on June 18 with an on the water follow up on June 25 out on the ocean.  I'm totally new to kayak saltwater fishing but i would love to ease into this and learn from some of the very experienced folks on this forum.  People on here are so willing to help and share, it's really great.

Have FUN.

Is your wife going to fish, as well?  If not, what you could do is just get one set of turbo fins then use that drive on whichever boat you are using for fishing.  Then give her that drive if you are out and about with her.  If she will be fishing too, then you may want the two drives upgraded.  The rudder isn't quite as critical, but nice to have.  It is also pretty inexpensive for an upgrade.

Welcome to the site. My wife and I own both a Rev and an Outback. She likes to cruise on those warm summer days and I have both to choose from for fishing. She is OK with that as long as I call her boat Cornelia. Heck, small price to pay for two awesome fishing boats. Just not sure which one is hers.

If you are patient you will find deals on Craigslist. I have bought a few this way.

New has it advantages. Local companies like Next Adventure will go out of their way to make sure you have a sound yak. Any difficulties will be addressed quickly and without fuss. Sort of nice to have that benefit. Starting to sound like a salesman. I have no ties with them at all.

Will have to start a couples forum. My wife has informed me that she wants to catch a sturgeon.
I think that the universe has shifted just a little.
