Check out the size of Jeff's catch in 4 ft of water out of Yellowknife. Look at the beautiful markings on those fish!

here is the image. This is not my fish--Jeff Goudreau is a dedicated kayak fisherman who is accessing areas up out of Yellowkinife that can ONLY be accessed by kayak to get these kind of fish.

Awesome fish. Must be fun to catch them in a kayak, canoes are like a second car up there.
My family have relatives in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. When we were kids, we would catch 6" yellow perch on our Zebco 202 rigs and give them to the old timers who would use them for bait to catch pike on hand lines. I saw an old photo of a retired miner who hung a pike he caught between a couple trees; he was a bit over 5' tall, the fish was a foot bigger than he was. Of course, this is where people hang ten foot square bear pelts on the garage and have a door on the roof of two story homes to get out of the house in the winter.
Isn't the world record for northern pike over 6'?

I bet that was a fight of a lifetime. Major bragging rights right there.

Northern Pike max out at around 5 ft but muskie max out at about 6 ft.

Greg used to post here quite a bit. One of his more famous posts explained that he was wearing goggles to protect his eyes from ice pellets. :o
