OK, I know this has been asked a gazillion times, but...  I'm retiring soon & am limited to about $600-700.00 for a SOT to be used in the high desert reservoirs & occasionally in a coastal bay.  I've looked at the Perceptions, but don't know enough to make a decision.  Any suggestions?  I'm not in a situation where I can buy a couple & pick.  Thanks for any help! ??? ???

Bass Pro Shops sells the FS12T Ascend kayak for under 500 bucks.  That'll leave you a few hundred in which to outfit the boat/get a PFD.  The Ascend is highly rated amongst the budget seeking crowd.  Since you're in Prineville, it may be tough to scour the used market, but that's always a good route.
