Will be on the Kenai peninsula for family vacation end of August/early September.  I know that is Silver season, but reaching out to Alaska yak brothers/sisters for recommendations.  Flying form Oregon so won't have the yak, but thinking about bringing my bank fishing set-up.  What hardware should I be throwing or what about the guide drop off?  This is a bucket list item so not opposed to the "all in" guide thing:  any thoughts/ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance ,

Bill

That will be prime time for some fat rainbow fishing and, as you mentioned, silver fishing.   Don't forget to go out and try the salt with a guide.  There is lots of good lake fishing if you want to go for a hike.

There is already a thread on this subject with a good supply of input. I'll see if I can find it.

Here's a list of my links I give out for Southcentral Alaska I posted in the thread referenced by Kenai guy.

Here are a few personal sites of mine.  The Kayak site I just soft launched a few days ago. Trying to keep adding to it.  Despite the URL, I am not a guide.

Bill, you're going to have a ball. There's a kayak fishing option for you to consider. Chris Mautino operates Liquid Adventures out of Seward, and guides throughout Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords. Check out his website -- single day trips run $220, and a multi-day remote trip is even better.  www.liquid-adventures.com

When I got started I went out with Chris a few times. Highly recommend him.

+1 for liquid adventures.

Also consider renting a inflatable something from Alaska Raft and kayak and float the upper or middle Kenai.

Should be some killer all around fishing then. Reds, BIG bows and dollies. Maybe even a silver. A good a chance as any battling a king too but got to release those. It'll tear your trout gear up though!!! Lol.
