Hey I'm Tommy!
  This is a great site! I'm glad to be able to connect with people out there who share the same passion as I do. I've been fishing from a kayak back on my island of Guam for years. Fishing on the islands is very different from fishing state side. Kayaking has been the only activity I enjoy since getting out of the Marine Corps in 06. It's very peaceful and therapeutic. I love it out here. It's amazing! I bought an Angling starter kayak from Walmart. Will upgrade later but it will do for now. I hope to gain more knowledge. I hope be able to catch some nice fish and gain some friends along the way. Thank you for your time! Happy yakking!

Welcome! You'll find lots of great resources here on the forum. Are you from Guam or were you stationed there while in the Marines?

Hafa Adai, Tommy! I spent 18 months on Guam many years ago, when my father was stationed there. The only fishing I saw there was by guys casting nets, or spearfishing. Guam would be one of the last places I would have thought to find kayak fishermen.

Thanks everyone! I'm originally from Guam. I was stationed out of Camp Horno, Camp Pendleton Ca. I didn't start kayaking until I returned to Guam. That's when I started landing the big fish outside the reef. I was raised doing a lot of the traditional fishing. Usually on the reefs with spear, net, or by hand. Never thought I would be fishing out state side, especially from a kayak. I used to watch the outdoor channel back on Guam and tell myself," that's easy! I can do that!" I come out here and I'm landing sea weed. Lol! It's not as easy as it looks. I'm glad I found this forum. You guys are awesome!
