Wondering if anyone has any good recommendations for a good, road-system lake for grayling (of any size). We want to take the kids (12 & 6) on a final tent-camping and fishing trip. I'm going to take the raft up the Denali Highway. We are going to car camp, and I could care less what size the fish are. This is one all about their having fun. A friend suggested heading to Byers Lake. And, minus any better ideas or ominous warnings, I'm thinking that sounds good. I haven't done any grayling fishing aside from a couple floats down the Gulkana...when rainbows were the real target. But grayling seem like a kid-friendly target b/c when they are around, they are not all that picky.

I love the grayling fishing up north at Tangle Lakes -- but that's quite a drive compared to Byers. Very good access, grayling just outside the outlet of the stream that empties just south of the boat launch are within reach of a long cast from shore. The area is great hiking through low tundra -- so great visibility for spotting game (and hunters).
