i was wondering if washington or seattle has a property tax on cars besides the 30 dollar registration fee?  from what i read almost everything they tax under "property tax" title is business property (which is kind of weird)  i can't find anything online about car taxes that is easy to understand lol....i was just curious cause i would be really surprised if they didn't tax cars and other property heavily...but if they don't i would be really happy hehe

also how is the burien area west of sea tac? i found a one bedroom house with a fenced in yard and washer and drier for 760 a month online and thats not far from work...and not too expensive considering you get a more private atmosphere...i live in an apartment which i have been doing now for about 3 years and i don't mind it but i could see where having an apartment would make it hard to store your yak especially if its 15ft long and your on the second story and have to make tight corners by yourself lol

and the apartment i live in now is on the first floor which is great but the second floor apartment has a loft with stairs that end right above my bedroom...whichever engineer thought it was great idea to put stairs in second story apartment was an idiot...wat do you always do when you have to up and down stairs every day...you jump the last 3 and come crashing down on the floor lol....kind of annoying for the guys downstairs (like me) lol

so long story short i would rather have a duplex or house than apartment (wouldn't we all)  so if i can find an affordable one in descent area not to far from work i am gonna move there lol (man thats a lot of stipulations lol)

sorry if this post is in the wrong area but i wanted just washington people to reply or people who knew about washington

Car tabs are cheap these days, because of a an initiative that was passed several years ago. You may not be all that thrilled with cheap tabs (and car taxes) when you see the congestion and poor roads in the Seattle area. :o

About Burien, I'm not sure. You might want to try and pm charliefl66- I think he lives in SeaTac, nearby.

unfortunately when you have 4 million people in a 20 square mile area or so you have traffic problems no matter wat you do...no amount of roads or money can change that

especially with seatles landscape its not like theres much room for more than a few interstates

so i would rather pay less to the government since they aren't gonna do anything with it related to roads anyways

for instance there is sales tax, property tax, registration fee, and a wheel tax in nebraska...and the roads still suck lol

There are much better ways of getting around in crowded urban areas, than cars. Unfortunately Seattle has really missed the boat on mass transit. They are still trying to build bigger roads, including some bridges that will allow for future mass transit.

I'm originally from the east coast, had family on either side of NYC. Having to drive (and park) in the city was a royal pain. The subway or train was easy, by comparison. Traveling in Europe was eye-opening, too.

so you just admitted that wat the government there needs is a better spending plan rather than higher taxes for higher income

There are no major taxes on cars, except the usual sale tax when you purchase. Only recently have municipalities been allowed to tack on small charges above the $30 basic fee for tabs.

I used to live N of Seattle, and had the impression that Burien was on the rough side- but the Seattle area prices are liable to be a lot higher than Nebraska...Like I said, I think Charlie knows the area better than I do.

well i am back from seattle...seems like nothing could go right this week...on the way on sunday i got turned around in all the construction in omaha and missed my flight went on stdby and got lucky because i got the 1st flight in omaha and the first flight in denver but still pushed me back 5 hours...then everything went ok till about thursday...when my boss said well we want you here but we want you to have more training in one specific area (which i don't mind i was just planning on moving and my boss back in lincoln was too so i had alrdy put in 30 day notice)  Then i had some fun shooting with the boss man and some other folks up there...shot a .45 colt, .45 kimber, .40 berreta, 9 berretta, 357 magnum, and they had a 44 mag with them but i didn't shoot that (i don't see the point in huge guns plus i didn't feel like having a busted up hand after we had shot about 200 rounds of .45) so anyways all that was fun...my actual time in seattle was fun but then came the trip home...i left my camera and gps in the center console of my rental car...i remembered on the elevator ride to get my tickets so i went back down to the car...of course they werent there so those are gone (again kinda my own fault but damn lol) then get on the flight 2 denver (showed up 3 hours early at seattle airport so i wouldn't miss another flight lol)  everything is going ok short security line...get to denver at 8 o clock...look at the departure list and my connecting flight is delayed till midnight (the stupid airport stops serving food at 9 and everything else at about 10:30 for future reference)  got to omaha about 2:50am waited 30 mins for backs drove the 45 mins home lol...long day but at least i got home

so i liked seattle but  something was against me on this trip lol...
