Took a weekend trip out east to Corbett State Park to check out the many smaller lakes in the area for my Birthday weekend. Ended up setting up camp on Link Lake as it seemed to have pretty good options for bank, and kayak fishing.

Fish activity was very low, only ever saw two fish jump the entire weekend, but my one and ONLY bite was the one that counted.

Not a bad birthday fish. Even came wrapped in a bow!  18 inches long, and cooked up real nice on my "wooden camp stove".

Thanks, It was tasty. Seemed like there was about 6-7 Lakes in a 10 mile radius.

As for secluded...It was very much so, for all but the tweeker who stole a car in Eugene, drove it to about 50-60 yards from my camp and torched it. He ended up walking back to the main highway swinging a bat at passing cars...

I actually saw that method online once so I gave it a try. I need to learn my timing more with that method as I almost dried out the fish.

Nice fish and cool way to cook it! great scenery for a peaceful birthday..

Thank you sir. Hopefully I'll be doing much of the same next weekend in your neck of the woods (coos bay??). Going to be at Spinreel Dunes looking for cut throats in the creeks.

I was poking fun! I just switched fishing gears and I'm dead set on salmon now. I may take the occasional trip back to the salt of it's glassy but my efforts are focused on the kings. I will say that spin reel has some good cuttie action. Just a bit of worm and split shot should do the trick.

It's all good! I haven't been bit by the Salmon bug yet. it would be nice to catch one, but I am not setup for them.

This is our "long" trip of the year. Going to be there for 5 days. I blew the motor in my Sand Rail at Wikiup earlier in the year, or I'd be driving that all day and fishing all morning/evening!

Salmon fever bites hard and it itches for months. It's still a bit early for the salmon...I'm hoping it picks up by next weekend. Good luck while you're down here!
