Anyone out there know anything about the 'Field and Stream' Eagle 12 that Dicks is selling? It looks like it's missing a few bells and whistles, but the price is right. any info would help. Thanks.

It's a good overall kayak. Not real fast but it's pretty stable . Where are you wanting to fish with it?

When I researched them,  the only negative issue I saw reported by several reviewers was regarding the foot rests slipping and the cup holder being too shallow to really hold cans / bottles.
I went ahead and picked one up and no regrets so far.   Not only is it my only Sit-In Kayak, but the only one I have ever sat in,  so can't compare it to others.  As would be expected, it is a good bit more stable than my Sit On Top kayaks "Pescador 12 & OK Prowler 15".
I have not had any issues with the foot pegs so far and I used the cup holder to place my round Scotty base for the rod holder.   I really like the large cockpit opening giving me plenty of room to move around and get in and out.  I wanted a spray skirt for it and had to special order one because it is so large.  The front has a sealed flotation cell so, like the Titanic, in theory it will never completely sink.
Especially when on sale,  I think it is one of the best deals out there for a fishing Sit In Kayak.
As for the reason I imagine Noah is asking,  I would not consider it a Do All fishing kayak if your considering taking it out on big water.

I used to think that Bigfoot might exist. Then I saw the reality shows where they are looking for them.  Now I am certain they don't

Is it the SOT eagle talon? Or the SINK eagle run?

I have paddled the eagle talon a couple of times and its a solid boat. It is a bit on the slow side but other than that its a solid boat. It does take more effort to paddle but it gives you more weight capacity and stability if you are a bigger guy. It will work for the willamette, Columbia, and the ocean. I'd say its a fine entry level boat.

However, if you pay another 200-300 you'll certainly notice the difference in an Ocean Kayak, Wilderness Systems, Jackson, etc. Visit out friends at Next Adventure or the Kayak Shed and check put some other options. Both shops have some good sales from time to time too.

I have the Feild and stream sit on top as a Back up for friends to use. it holds big guys like me and seems to do a fare job. But in the Ocean for ORC I liked my Wilderness Ride 11.5 but with the swells and Conditions Sat morning I was wishing I had one of the hobies Drive systems  to keep my hands free for fishing, I should of stayed out longer,  But It was my first ORC and I was just happy to be there at all. No fish on the hook for me.But still a fun time.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the input. The boat I'm asking about is a sit on top Eagle Talon 12. Dicks has them for $540.00, so that would be a lot easier to get into than $700 to $1000 for some other boats. Any info would help.

That was my first boat.  I liked it as my entry level kayak.  I used it for just over a year before I bought my Outback.

I have had one for the last 2 years. Have fished lakes, rivers, and sound without any issues. The things reported in other posts are pretty accurate but I have overcome them or learned to live with them.  The yak tracks real straight and turns pretty well in the river. The back storage well isn't set up to allow a standard milk crate so I use a 5 gallon bucket from Home Depot to store items that I might need during a trip. I have adjusted the provided seat to every possible angle in an effort to be comfortable but.....it's on the list to be replaced.  Good luck with your purchase.
