Actually they're small yellowtail. And they are voracious bastards. There's a guy from SD who moved to Alaska so has experience w/ YT's and salmon. He says one yellowtail is like getting a double or triple salmon hookup! :o

I was wondering myself.  They looked a little like the YT's I've picked up in the Sea of Cortez only less ferocious.  I was thinking mullet till you cleared it up.  MMMMmmm  Yellowtail!  I think we need a tounament in the Bahia de Los Angeles!  Bonita from a yak would kick @$$!

I remember way back in the late 80's early 90's during an El Nino in Cali, we were catching Bonita right off the pier we fished off of. Wow!! Like a torpedoe with fins, lots of fun. Thats the only "bullet" fish I've ever caught. I can only imagine how fun it would be to catch some big tuna species on a Kayak.
See ya on the water..

No kidding...
This little skipjack tuna shredded the lighter "salmon" gear I brought with me on a kayak fishing trip to Baja in 2005.  After that fish, I switched to my heavier gear for the rest of the trip.
