Any one fishing for salmon around newport? Im trying for my first salmon ever and if it could be off the yak all the more better. Ive been trying for a while and am still learning many techniques and methods. Im willing to drive down to waldport or up to lincoln city/salmon river areas and anywhere in-between. looking for company to troll with been using spinners, cut plug, and spoons to no avail this past month.

I'm leaving on a trip but intend to try the Yaquina again this year maybe early October. I'll see if you can go then. I hope coho is heating up by then. What have you seen from the power boaters out there? Any catching in the Yaquina so far?

I tossed off the bank of the Salmon for a few hours tonight. Tons of fish jumping, just couldn't get any to take a bite. I know they are having decent luck down river from the bridge.

Good luck
