New guy not shy HOWDY!

I have been reading sites trying to find answers to kayaking questions and this one seems most helpful, so here I am. Permission to come aboard?
I have a 18' Grew stink boat with al the gear for dragging tackle and kids but my wife doesn't really like motor boats. So with a pocket full of of money and a trailer in tow I drove to big smoke ( Vancouver ) with the sole intention of spending everything I had on kayaks. I say that in plural because the only way I would get away with this is to supply the whole family with their own boats, paddles and all. I settled on Tarpon 140's as I couldn't quite afford Hobies' at this time. Ocean Kayak simply wasn't available in Vancouver this late in the season so it was Tarpons or next year. The boats seem to glide well so I am happy about that. I also got a Hummingbird fish finder and some rod holders. I made a mounting plate using toilet anchors and cedar planking for a down rigger, the fish in Shuswap lake hold deep in fall and winter 50 - 60 feet. Rainbows to 20 plus pounds and lakers even bigger! Right now the salmon are cruising through.
What I really want to do is meet up with someone that would like to fish Barkley Sound, the Broken Group with me as my wife and kids are not that confident in big water.

Welcome! I love the Tarpon, I feel as though it's a great starter kayak. Nice job out fitting the whole family. Post up some pictures when you christen your new yak with some fish blood.

When I finally kill one I will certainly photo it. I have already smacked the deck with a couple fish but not legal size. Rainbows in this lake must be 50 cm or 20 inches and bigger or they must be returned as bait for real fish! That said my friend Hank landed a 22 1/2 lb rainbow and at first glance I thought it was a salmon? Low and behold it clearly had the red stripe along its midriff. That's one BIG Rainbow I said.
