It was a tough day for catching yesterday.  Not many chinook were biting at the Ghost Hole or in Nehalem Bay.  I saw Keelhauled at the Ghost Hole in the morning.  Nice to finally meet you!  We trolled around with the rest of the PB'ers and a few fish were being caught but it was pretty slow overall.  He kindly gave me some blue labels as he took off early to get to work.  At around 10 I threw the kayak in the back of the truck and headed up to Nehalem to see if I could repeat the luck I had last week.

Nehalem was much slower than it was last week though and I only heard of a couple of chinook caught throughout the time I was there.  Around mid afternoon I headed out to the bend past Paradise Cove Marina and decided to see if I could pick up a coho.  Just after I flipped around to make my second pass a coho grabbed my spinner.  It didn't seem to realize that it was hooked at first, which was nice because it gave me time to turn the camera on, but once I started pulling on it the thing went crazy.  After I secured the fish I chatted with Minnow Wrangler.  Nice to meet you also!

I couldn't help but think about our good friend Pelagic, the Doctor of Salmon.  He has taught me most of what I know about salmon fishing in Oregon.  It was just over four years ago that he put me on my first salmon caught from a kayak.  I caught this fish in same spot, using almost the exact same lure he gave me that day, and almost the same native coho(this one was a little bigger).

That was awesome footage. Just let us know when you run out of freezer room for all that salmon. I'm sure someone will step up to help you out.  ;)

Great report, and you picked a perfect day before it all started to turn nasty rainy.
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

I was planning on heading out today but once I saw the forecast on Wednesday night I knew it was either Thursday or sometime next week when this whole thing blows over.  Maybe this rain will pull good numbers of fish into the bays.
