Has anyone fished the snoqualmie river in the Duvall Monroe area? My mother in law lives up in Duvall an I'm thinking of bringing some gear and maybe the kayak. I've been scoping out the area for a possible float it looks pretty deep and gentle unlike the upper snoqualmie. A google search shows that it was an ok winter steelhead run.

Anyone have any info on the area?

Before getting into kayaking I tried fly fishing from the banks of the Snoqualmie a few times, mostly around Carnation, but also around Duvall/Monroe.  Never caught anything though.

If you fish along the Ben Howard Rd don't leave anything of value in your car.  It's a high theft area.  Never lost anything myself but heard of lots of people who did.

My mother in law is about two blocks from the river. What I would like to do is have someone drop me off and then just drift it and call them and have them pick me up. I need to do a little more walking along the river to make sure it all looks floatable.

I usually go from the Tolt Hill launch near Carnation and head upstream and it very mellow (see pic). It's not much different downstream, maybe a few ripples here and there. Nice if you have a shuttle ride you can cover more river.

Yeah this is pretty much what I wave seen. I could probably have my wife drop me upstream of duvall and then drift my way down to munroe and take out there. What were you fishing?

Make sure you pullout at the High Bridge boat ramp. Kinda primitive but easy with a kayak. You miss this and you are going all the way to Snohomish.

I was fishing for coho and pinks back in Sept and October at the Tolt Hill launch and upstream. Searched that area for an early steelhead about 2 weeks ago but no luck. I have picked up small cutthroat 8 to 13 inches along the banks on light spinning gear. It's a bit calm for steelhead to hang out, but they need to move thru that area. Upstream of Fall City near the hatchery there are some interesting holes, and better chances for steelhead, but the rapids are a one-way trip up in that area. You'll need a shuttle for that area, unless you hang out between rapids.
