Hi, My name is Jim and I live in Albany, Oregon.  I am new, very new and learning, so new that I don't have a kayak yet.  I figured I can rent until I can buy, but even that is only if I can find partners to go along.   Any advice would be of great benefit.  I do have a cataraft but I want to go Kayak, they appear to me at least  better and easier to work.

Thank You, Jim.

Welcome Jim!

Theres plenty of fishn spots here in the Willamette Valley. Then of course your not to far from the PDX group or the handfull of us here in Eugene area. From Albany, you are a good start over to Depot Bay... or other costal waters or even east to the Cascades for that matter. Do you have a preference as to the kind of water/fishing you want to do? Lakes? Rivers, Salt? Got a boat picked out yet?

Depending on what you want to fish for I have an extra yak if you want to come out to Newport one of these days and fish with me. I think hitting up one of the local reservoirs for trout etc would be the best outing to seehow you like fishing off the yak. But heck I jumped into fishing the ocean and bays right away so up to you.

I have enjoy all types of water/fishing, my main focus now is Salt, being that my wife will eat Seabass, etc.  She of course is concerned that I will end up on the menu instead of the fish  :P  As far as a kayak, not yet, have lots to learn and study, I want one I can use along the coast and bays.

Wes, that would be wonderful and thank you for the offer.  I know I will enjoy being on the water, and if the kayaks are better in maneuvering and handling then my cataraft then I am sure I will be delighted.  I do love getting out on the ocean and fishing even though it is rare.  Trout I enjoy, but mainly do catch and release, since I am the only one in my family who eats trout.   Again, thank you for the offer.  Any guidance to equipment needed will be of great benefit and appreciated.

Jim
