So having over 5 weeks of leave, decided to take a day off.

Started about 10am. Pollock everywhere!!!! The good news is one small king in the yak. Bad news the fish clipped my downrigger line and I lost the ball. I can't believe my line won that battle.

So trying it with a diver now. Hopefully it gets down enough.

MUCH better than working!!!!!

Glad you got a chance to hit the water, nice fish. Too about the ball, what kind of line were you using on the downrigger?

Out of curiosity what is that white tube running under your right leg?

Good to see SOMEBODY is getting out there on this gorgeous day. Thanks for the halftime report; looking forward to the full count.  Hope that diver works for you until you can get to the Gear Shed to resupply. Whereabouts did you pick up the pretty king, green can?

Hmmmm. Seems like a lot of tubing for a liquids management system. But then, it does sort of look like it's going to the drive scupper.

Final tally was 7 for 10. Great day but not a single one over ten pounds. Diver worked great. Used a thin hoochies today behind a classic dodger. In front of condos out to the green can.

Had a proxy so kept 4.

Downrigger is 100 pound spectra.

I run my transducer cables under my hatch. I got tired of my wires snagging my hooks and drive so I ran them through the tube.  Need a more permanent fix but this has worked so far.

Always love your vids - thanks for posting. So you lost the downrigger ball and a rod setup, double Doh!

I liked that the clip right after seeing the rod in the water shows you reeling one in on it. Was that paying homage to the rod or were you able to retrieve it?
My wife thinks fishing is merely guys wandering around like idiots swinging sticks in the air. Many of my trips prove how smart she really is.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Avet.  But I also LOVE my kids so it doesn't mean its trouble free.  I'm using my fiancees since mine isn't 100%...80%...maybe.  I took it apart, worked for a while, now something is not right.  Self-inflicted I am almost 100% sure.  PolePole had a good thread on avets with the gist of the thread being "My Avet: Love/Hate relationship."

Paying homage.  Or really just getting the clip order screwed up.

It sucked, it just lay a few feet under the water for what seemed like eternity.  I have always said "who needs reverse on a Hobie?!?!"  Ok, maybe right there and then.  It was fate.  On the first fish, when I went to pop the line off the downrigger clip, my anti-reverse mechanism was screwed up on the reel, so I cursed it and said "You are going in the trash!"  Not true since they are easy to maintain but I guess it decided the ocean was a better final resting place!!!

Due to unavoidable social commitments I only have a few hours. But what the heck. Who needs sleep? Let's try this again!

Hit black ice at Clam Gulch. Pucker factor maxed out already and haven't even unloaded. More driving than fishing.

Oh well sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do!  Lol.

Argh. Not to be. Short day. One for three but the one was a jack. Argh!  Still they are there!  4 hr one way is just a tad long to drive. Nah, it's worth it!!
