Okuma's new kayak rods

Has anyone seen or used the rods made by Okuma for kayak fishing. I read thdy are suppose to float. I wonder how that works without comprimising the rod strength. Anyone know.

I got a couple, pretty nice rods.  The flotation is accomplished by the extra long foregrip.

So do they come in a variety of actions and lengths, or just one standard rod like a medium heavy, short jigging rod.
Also Allen have you ever used a cape fear rod. The blanks are kind of price nd I don't think I have ever seen one sold on a commercial level, you know finished with guides and reel seats. They are the hexagon shaped rods.

Have checked out those Vholdr action cams yet.

I may have to check these out when I head to the store after work.  I'm looking for a new casting rod anyway (my Whuppin' Stick is just too darn heavy for all day casting use.)  For only $119 it is certainly in my price range despite the fact I am kinda cheap when it comes to gear.  I wonder how much abuse this rod can take; I beat the heck out of my gear.

ok, gotta ask.. if these Baidarka's were built and designed for and by yak fishermen, how come the heaviest one only handles 1 1/2 ounces of weight/lure??

reason i bring this up is, i know there are more experienced members who fish deep via trolling without downrigger and use 4 oz or more weight... what gives?? could this rod handle the extra 3 or more ounces some of you routinely have referred to when reporting how you set up your trolling rig?

Yes, I've used a Cape Fear rod before.  Much faster action than a Baidarka.

The Baidarka 701 is eglass construction compared the the rest of them which are graphite.  That's got to have a different action.  I have the one of the graphites and I would classify it as medium fast action.

Richard, I ignore the lure weight ratings.  They are not a consistent measure over various manufacturers.  In fact on many rods rated to 1 1/2 ounce I routinely use much much more, up to 4-6 ounces ... at least for mooching or trolling.  The lure weight ratings is more for casting ... supposedly the ideal weight range the get the most out of  a cast.  It loads the rod up "just right" in that range.

thanx allen, i was kinda hoping that rods are actually stonger than their lure weight ratings, wouldnt be much of a fish beater if it werent.. 

btw, was just in the local freddies here in fairbanks, [ airport and university ] and your smiling face was looking back at me again from the counter..
