So far I have not seen/heard of anyone catching a halibut this year--what the hell?

Season is still open on these slabs out at Sekiu/Clallam Bay til July 21st.  The annual Sekiu Halibut Derby is June 12-14.  Coming right up.  Anyone planning on fishing this?

Rob.    PS --Season is open for lings and rockfish and kings and silvers during this time frame as well--opportunity knockin  ;D

It's that pesky pedal out to the 100 fathom mark keeps me from gettin a Halibut... I'd love nothin more then to rack up an Oregon butt.
See ya on the water..

where I am at, (far south) I am waiting for the California butts to work past the boarder into our waters ;D
Then I can launch out the Chetco and drift all the way to the Winchuck and work the sand beds between the rocks.
this will be a new experiance for me as I have never caught a big butt, just starry flounder and the likes.

I've always considered the halibut category as a bit of a stretch.

Where I am surprised is that we haven't seen any legal sturgeon being caught.  But our summer season on the local rivers up here is just getting started ...
