Hi Guys,

Thinking 9 to 10 ft... 10-20 (or close)... fast action preferred... less then 150 price point, but closer to 75-100 preferred.

Those are my parameters... what have you tried that you liked... I am looking for something with a decent warranty and something that is sensitive.

Thanks

30.48 cm or if you prefer 1/6 fathom, too easy.  What are you purchasing it for?  We all have the 1.07E-3 NM spinning combo for 'fishing' that works for all species under .5 st.  All your bases are belong to us ;D ;D

The reason I ask what your target species is that for instance I have a (from the tall man) Loomis Hot Shot (glass) that is the bomb for trolling 'twitchy' lures hence the name Hot Shot.  The top 3-4 guides respond quicker than a spider silk caught in a turbulent breeze yet the rest of the rod has an acceptable, yet ogrish telephone pole backbone.  On the other hand, I have Penn Custom (exact same specs but carbon) that lacks the wispy flutter in the tip, twitchy pulses stops around 2 guides, yet when I hook up the entire rod provides feedback.  The way I see it is Cut plug or Kwikfish, aggressive Salmon or timid Steelies...

I use okuma cello rods.9 ft maybe 9 1/2    2-4oz. And 4-8 I think. I used them for salmon trolling and plunking, has enough backbone also for larger than keeper sturgeon also as I found out during fall Chinook fishing.priced under $100 its a great rod IMO.

Rev, what are you using the rods for? A longer rod is nice for steelhead. It makes mending line nice and the longer length gives you more leverage to set the hook on fish. I find 9 ft to be manageable on a kayak but I wouldn't want to go any bigger.

I have a couple of spinning rods by Shimano called the Clarus. They have pretty good action and sensitivity and are in that price range. They also have a fair selection: http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/rods/salmon_steelhead/Clarus_Salmon_Steelhead.html

Spinning or bait casting?
I love my trophy XL custom series bait caster 10-20, model #s TCS6115C and TCS105C a bit heavy but they have amazing sensitivity and crazy backbone all for around $100.00.
Shimano convergence spinning models come in assorted lengths and Wieghts. Light weight and sensitive

In that price range, you can't go wrong with the Okuma SST or a Berkley Buzz Ramsey IM8 in the 15-50 lbs rating.  15-50 sounds heavy but both of these rods have a sensitive tip and a strong butt section/backbone.  I have used both rods on everything from salmon trolling to keeper sturgeon.

9 foot vs 8 foot rod with the same line rating......the 9 foot will be way more sensitive, better feel and will load up way better when you get bit on the troll IMO.

Check out cabelas today.  One day sale, 25% off many of their rods.  I think it can be stacked on rods already on sale.  Free shipping on most.

Many saltwater rods that would be great for jetty or surf casting.
