Neoprene neck gaskets are also preferred because they don't rip open at the most inopportune time, ruining your fishing trip.  Had that happen to my Wife's previous suit.

Which reminds me, a note on Kokatat service:  When I sent my wife's NRS suit in to get fixed, they charged us around $80 to replace the gasket and didn't even check for pin holes or other issues, and it leaks pretty good.  When I sent my Kokatat suit in for service, they found some minor de-lamination and sent me a brand new suit.

Guess what kind of suit my wife has now?  I'll never buy the other brand again.

I've also heard good things about Stohlquist customer service.

Thank you to all of you who took the time to give some input regarding their dry suit - semi-dry suit experiences There is no place else you can go and get unbiased opinions on what works and what does not. No sales people pushing a single product. Kind of like R & D at the best. With that said I am totally confident in my next purchase of the Kokatat Supernova angle suit. I even got some direct PM from some of you, thank you all very much.

I think I am going to get that same suit. I have been saving for a while and just sold the old geo metro so hopefully soon I will be ready to go get one. It's alot of money almost as much as I spent on my Hobie.

Here's proof of the seal on the Supernova's neoprene neck.  This selfie was shot after swimming around a secluded saltwater cove in Alaska for 15 or 20 minutes.  The suit never burped much less leaked.  If I had any question as to whether it would leak, I'd never do this, much less without a PFD, alone, in Alaska, without any way of drying out my underlayers.

Lol. Great selfie. That is another embarassing kayak moment for me. Before I launch I decide to check for leaks in front of a few folks. I step in about waist deep lift my legs and I float...them I realize I can't get my legs back down due to the air. For a few brief seconds I'm helplessly wallowing around until I can finally get flipped over. Lol. I felt like the turtle that got flipped over. Wasn't bad...just witnessed by too many folks.
