Nice kokes Gordon. First time trying for kokanee at AL for me, got a few takedowns but nothing stuck...gotta try again soon!

Your doing better than my first time, Mikah. I repeatedly got skunked until I so frustrated I was ready to quit and then suddenly I started to catch fish.

As with any other type of fishing, it's all about confidence...which translates into mojo ;)

American Lake is only going to get better in the coming months...keep at it and you'll be slayin' em before you know it. Those gorgeous dark red fillets are already soaking in my Kokanee Kandy brine made with dark rum and honey...yum

How did that underwater footage turn out Gordon?  BTW I saw under water LED lights at Cabelas for around 17 bucks, I think they are meant for deep water attractors, but they could probably be rigged up to work for the camera.
as luck would have it I wont be going to the field until Monday so I have this weekend to fish, probably going to hit AL again

The underwater video was really good at or near the surface but the deeper water video was just "green"...not enough light. I'll have to check out Cabelas...submersible LEDS might be just the ticket. I definitely want to try it again a bit shallower and get some underwater fish landing action right at the boat.

I'm planning to fish American again on Sunday...I'll look for you out there

Just curious what does the cold snap do to the fish, do they go deeper or stay up closer to the surface?

Thinking about a trip on Sunday as well if the weather is reasonable.

I don't think a couple days of cold weather will affect them much...it will have a much bigger effect on me! They're all over the water column right now. I've found Kokanee to more reactive to barometric pressure with the best action on a rising barometer.

That is good. I am itching to get out.

I haven't got a downrigger yet and I need to change my boat from duck hunting configuration to fishing.  It doesn't take a lot but  it is sooooo doggone cold out I am not overly inclined to work on stuff outside.  I used duct seal for my transducer, and I suspect that with the cold it will not be real happy for me to reform things and get my depth finder re-installed.

Still, I may yet give it a go.  If you see a brown Wavewalk out there on Sunday, make sure you say Hi!

its cold.  got out late today without much hope, thought it would be really slow.  saw nangusdog and micahgee out there when I got there.  pulled 4 kokes out in about two hours before I switched over to CTT gear.  half oz egg sinker above your dodger is all you need.

Nice job! Brrr it was cold, my baitcasting reel was shooting ice crystals this morning when in free spool.

I caught a decent 14" kokanee in a couple hours of trolling using the above mentioned 1/2 oz egg sinker above dodger...Need to come back soon and catch more.

That is great.  Really wanted to get out but snow has changed the plans. Next weekend out of towns, so I am toast for two weeks.  Hopefully the fishing will just keep warming up.  Thanks for posting so all the internet fishermen have something to look at. ;D ;D
