Installing a Humminbird 153 On a Hobie Revolution 13

I know...it's been discussed a lot but I installed one and documented it with this Youtube: .

I mounted the transducer in a reservoir of duct seal per the Youtube "The best way to install a transducer on a kayak" . 


It worked, but I'd also like to try using some styrofoam cut out to fit the transducer and glued to the bottom.  I think it would look neater than duct seal.  Zee from this forum has a topic: http://www.northwestkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=4506.0 discussing this method.

Jerry, thanks for your report....your results mirror my results when I mounted my Humminbird transducer in my old Outback.
I first used Marine goop...it worked reasonably well, but after one year I removed it and then used Duct Seal......Duct Seal gave better fish finder operation.
I now have a 2013 PA-14 and the "Lowrance ready transducer feature" is excellent.....I still have my old Humminbird fish finder, so my results were easy to track between the 3 mounting methods.

I have a 2014 Revolution, and agree that the transducer pocket works very well.  It's really easy to install a transducer in the pocket, using the through-the-hull fittings which come with the kayak.  Hobie kayaks with a transducer pocket come with an adapter which fits Lowrance transducers, but for a couple of bucks Hobie sells adapters which fit Huminbird transducers.

pmmpete....correct on the Humminbird adapter.....it cost me $10 and made the install a snap.
