Went out to pine hollow today.slight breeze,45°air temp,38° water.water was a little off color due to rain and snow but not to bad.hooked my first fish about 200 yds from the truck.26" bruiser.tore my rapala apart in the net.hooked another about the same size a few hundred yards more but lost it after a short battle.got to see it roll on top before tossing the hook.great day to be out.

Sign up! go back and get the one you lost...sounds like you have a nice fishery dialed in.

AOTY is not about winning for me...rather about motivating me to fish for different species, targeting big fish and sharing my catches with a group of awesome like minded fishing fanatics.

8lb mean green main line,6lb fluorocarbon. 7foot light action diawa heartland rod in 1/8-3/8 oz.long and limber takes lot of stress off the line.I usually run 4lb main line with that combo but didn't have any on a reel.even that light line I have never broke off a 4+ lb fish on that rod.

Love it... I hate seeing good fish torqued in on heavy rods/lines. Nice fish!

I'm that same way captain.trout arnt tuna or lings.IMO it takes the fun and challenge away when you use heavy gear.I also think the hook holding ratio goes up with a rod that takes the shock.

That's fishin...light tackle and finesse
At work, I talk to a ton of people gearing up... Guys wanting 80+ pound braid to cast off the jetty for blacks and greenling...a guy the other day wanted to know if 40 pound mono was too small for steelhead, or if he should go heavier...

Aaarrggghhhh....
